Academia Apple event at British Airways i360

How to manage Apple devices in Higher Education – An Academia Training Event

On a slightly overcast day in late June, Academia and Apple hosted a spectacular ‘training for higher education’ event at the British Airways i360 venue in Brighton – here is what you missed.

As part of the Academia drive for education in technology, the event partnership bandwagon rode into Brighton and on board the magnificent i360 platform from British Airways. Our partner on this occasion was Apple, with the Tech giant on hand to help train those in attendance on how to manage their devices more effectively.

The attendees came from all over the UK, with our friends travelling from York, Teesside, Coventry and even Belfast in order to learn more about the undoubted power of Apple devices in the higher education learning space. Although the lure of embracing spectacular views of the English Channel may have also swung the decision to travel hundreds of miles as well…

Presenters for the day were Paul Hutton, a highly distinguished teacher with 25 years’ experience in technology, with Manuel Figueira representing Academia from an Advice & Guidance angle. Joining them was Dave Hornby, our partner from JAMF, who was on hand to showcase the service that JAMF offer for managing Apple devices.

In between necessary coffee breaks and the stop for lunch, the attendees were treated to an Apple Technology case study from the University of Westminster before a training overview on how to achieve zero touch deployment when using the Apple School Manager program.  JAMF were then able to show why a managed service for Apple devices is essential in modern day education facilities.

To finish the day, our distinguished guests were treated to a ride on the 162 metre observation tower, to enjoy a well-deserved refreshment whilst soaking up the incredible views from the observation deck.  A truly inspirational sight to behold that complemented the lessons learnt in the day.

We would like to thank the team at British Airways i360, the people of Brighton, and all the speakers and of course, those who made the journey to attend and hope everything had a productive day. Academia event feedback can be seen here: (add feedback form?)
