17 Aug As a student, which Apple Mac should I get?
One of the most common questions we get asked at Student Superstore is which Mac is right for me? Unfortunately, no one can tell you a specific Apple Mac is for you, but we can always offer advice.
The first question is always what do you want out of your new Mac? This helps us understand how you will be using it at University and in your personal life. We would expect creative students studying artistic or 3D courses to require more processing and graphical power. Whilst students studying general courses with a lot of document-based coursework to require a more general Mac without the need for the “bells and whistles”.
It’s also not all down to the course you’re studying. If your course isn’t creative-based but you have a job or hobby that requires more power, there would be more of a need to upgrade to a more powerful Mac.
Secondly, do you require it to be portable? The majority of students require portability of their new Mac so they can take it around University with very little difficulty. However, the Mac desktops provide both cheaper alternatives to the Mac experience and more “bang for your buck”. So, it is always important to consider a Mac desktop.
Finally, do the standard Macs suit your needs? Student Superstore offers the full Apple Mac range, however, sometimes these don’t just suit what you need. This is why we offer custom-built Macs with alternative processors, memory, hard drive size and type, and graphics. This way you can always make full use of your Mac experience for the full length of your University course.
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at each member of the Apple Mac family and their advantages to students. If you have any questions in the meantime, you can always reach us on Facebook, Twitter and by email at studentstores@oldsite.academia.co.uk.
P.S. We haven’t forgotten about the iPad range and will talk about them soon!
